Oak Street Realty was created by the husband and wife team of Larry and Gunilla Craven. Born and raised in Chicago, they moved to Jacksonville and opened for business in 2003, serving buyers and sellers in the Jacksonville metro area.

The Historic area of Riverside Avondale became both their home and the location of their business, a bungalow they renovated on Stockton and Gilmore. Over the years, they rehabbed over 20 properties, winning awards from the Jacksonville Historic Commission as well as from Riverside Avondale Preservation. In 2007 they were presented an award by the City of Jacksonville for “Rehabilitation of Multiple Properties in the Riverside Area.”

Although they have been known for their work in the historic area, they have extensive experience in condos, investment properties, and many other areas of Jacksonville. When short sales and foreclosures became a dominant market, Oak Street teamed with attorney, J. Riley Williams, and his staff to handle negotiations and closings for those more complex cases.

Gunilla says she has 2 claims to fame: her Swedish mother, who once cooked professionally and made the most mouth-watering cookies on the planet, and the 4 years she spent as an assistant to Ann Landers in Chicago. Other than that, she says her life has been pretty tame.

Her earlier career was in marketing and communications, working for Leo Burnett Advertising, Jovan, and her own company, Wordsworth Communications. It was only after the move to Florida that real estate appeared on the radar screen.

At last count, she has moved 18 times and says it made sense for her to go into real estate. Fortunately her husband is on board with this wanderlust, and her friends have learned to keep her address in pencil.

Larry received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. After graduation, he returned to Chicago to take a job with McCall’s magazine starting his career in advertising sales and management. Over the years, he worked for such diverse publishing companies as CBS’s consumer division to IDG, a computer technology specialist, which took him all over the US and Europe calling on the top technology companies in the world.

If you know Larry, you know that his golf clubs are not far behind. During his career, he was able to take customers to play on some of the best courses in the country: Pebble Beach, Doral, The Country Club in Brookline, to name a few. The first question he would ask a business associate was, “Do you play golf?” and fortunately for him, most did.

Larry spent a few years in Atlanta with a dot com company, then moved to Ponte Vedra, Florida. In 2001 he invested in real estate – buying and rehabbing properties, then went on to get his real estate broker’s license and open Oak Street Realty with his wife, Gunilla.

Larry and Gunilla have 4 children and 5 grandchildren living in the San Francisco area and Chicago.

 Riley is an attorney who lives and works in Avondale. His practice includes commercial and residential real property transactions as well as business transactions. Riley graduated from Virginia Tech in 1993 with a B.S. in Finance. He continued on to law school at the Florida State University College of Law, obtaining his J.D. in 1997.
