This house just came on the market last week. It’s a lovely property with an in-ground pool, but I couldn’t get over the picture of the landscaping in the front yard. Bet the neighbors aren’t too happy either. (Remind me to share the story of our neighbor in Chicago who painted his house Pepto-Bismol pink.

I couldn’t use the picture from the MLS because of copyright laws, so Larry and I headed over there to take a photo. What we found is that the yard is very pretty and the owners must have spent a small fortune on the palm trees. Also, and just as important, the colored stones can easily be replaced by turf for not a lot of money. In the photo, the “colorful” areas look much larger and more expensive to replace.

Bottom line: a photo of the front landscaping should have never been used. It eliminates half the buyers. They would assume it’s worse and more expensive to correct, like I did.
